If you want to go from being concerned about economic and political restrictions and other threatening situations, to being at ease in yourself and empowered, Vipassana Meditation (also called Insight meditation) is a great option for you.
It can help you to take a long, clear look at your situation while remaining balanced and energized. If you try it, you’ll quickly understand how this practice is unlike other forms of meditation that you may have heard about.
It’s a completely different approach from meditation practices that aim for intensive concentration and that tend to be reclusive and austere.
Your main aim is not to become tranquil and relaxed. It is to awaken to truth and experience it directly. Tranquility and relaxation may be welcome side-effects however.
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about and practise traditional Buddhist Vipassana (Insight) Meditation at the House of Dhamma.
In one or two days, you can become familiar with the Vipassana approach (twinned walking and sitting practice – starting with short sessions and gradually extending them.)
You can become clear about the aim of Vipassana practice.
Small group sessions or individual instruction during the initial stages can help you as you gradually gain confidence.
Regular practice at home would then prepare you for a longer more intense retreat.
In general, courses are one or two days long, quiet but not silent, in an air-conditioned or fan cooled room and, if you prefer it, you can sit on a chair.
All you need to be able to do, is stand, walk, sit or lie down and breathe.

The air-conditioned shrine room is for small
group practice. You may sit on a chair or on a mat
on the floor.

There is also a Buddhist library and a meeting space downstairs.
Instruction is in English.
Course length ranges from one day or two days, usually from 10 am to about 4.30 pm. The maximum class size is 5.
On-line Dhamma talks and a selection of quotes are currently available.
Videos of Dhamma talks are coming soon.
If possible, longer retreats will be restarted early in 2526.

A recent retreat conducted in English at the YBAT Young
Buddhists Association of Thailand’s Pathum Thani Centre.
